Poise...! Shi Shi Beach WA

When the sun sings
A tearful song of Farwell at dusk…
I fear no more

For I trust every dawn
Makes the promise of a new day

When a tall tree stands naked
Ashamed of the marks from the seasons past…
I’m sad no more
For its roots will carry the promise of a new life

Nor do I feel pity for that lonely rock on a forgotten beach
Begging for a resting moss or breezing wind
For in his poise, he carries the dignity of time

So here I’m as many before me,
standing once again,
at the shore of an endless sea

Witnessing
no beginning , no end

Just an immortal journey to
become the sun some day…
The root somewhere…
Or the rock somehow…

Background:
Shi Shi Beach Neah Bay Washington:

Although waves and wind reshape it daily, Shi Shi Beach feels like a place that hasn’t changed in a million years. Framed by arches and sea stacks with a horizon that appears without end, this remote coastal enclave serves as a sanctuary to any who tread its sacred shores.

The trail to Shi Shi is short from the north. The beach itself starts on Makah land and arcs south for two miles to Point of Arches. Valiant sea stacks and arches stand in defiance of the relentless sea. On a weekday during the off-season you may well experience this sacred place in blissful solitude.
